Nowadays, everyone’s lifestyle is impacted by social media applications. It is generally accepted that the widespread use of Social Networking Sites seems currently indispensable in everyday life and with that, online and offline social lives seem inextricably linked to each other. This state of affairs most likely has implications for social relationships, health, and well-being, and consequently, researchers increasingly examine how Social Networks use relates to various aspects of psychological health.

My study investigates the impact of Instagram on lifestyle in three aspects of body image, disordered eating, and fashion among females in Tabriz-Iran. In today’s society, women are constantly surrounded by images of unrealistically thin-ideal bodies in media, leading to social comparisons its first natural consequences are body dissatisfaction and drives for thinness, while traditional Tabriz cultural aesthetic reflects a preference for being overweight.

According to the wealth of literature, the traditional Tabriz cultural aesthetic reflects a preference for obesity for women and is acceptable to men, and this attitude towards women has existed in this city for the past two decades. Also, Karla Serna has mentioned in her travelogue; In Iran, only overweight women are accepted and those who do not enjoy the benefits of obesity, resort to various treatments and medicines. Since to be thin is a kind of disgrace and failure for Iranian women and sometimes husbands divorce them under this pretext (Zarei and Tahmasebizadeh, 1397). But this attitude towards the beauty of the body has changed in recent decades.

The results of my study show that there is a meaningful relationship between the hours of utilizing Instagram and women’s attitudes about their body image, eating, and fashion. By increasing the hours of surfing Instagram, women’s tendency to keep their weight off becomes more, impacting their attitude towards themselves. The efficacy of Instagram on fashion is more than others. Other factors such as body mass index, age, income, marital status, and occupational status are strong predictors that intensify the influence of media.
